Romania's Ruling Coalition Partners Decide on Measures to Improve Government Performance

BUCHAREST, Romania -- The parties in the ruling coalition -- the Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania and the Conservative Party -- met on Wednesday (10 August) to discuss key political issues. Afterwards, the party leaders said they would ask President Traian Basescu to clarify recent remarks in which he accused the cabinet of making decisions influenced by economic interests. They also urged more efforts towards meeting EU accession requirements, as well as in battling the effects of recent flooding. (Rompres, Nine o'clock - 11/08/05)
